Critical founding-team role. You will own the regulatory and supply chain infrastructure that makes our Q1 2027 UK commercial launch possible.
The Role
The Operations Manager is one of the most critical hires for Cannamedical Britannia. You will be responsible for building every element of the UK regulatory and supply chain infrastructure — from MHRA Import Authorisation through to Schedule 2 dispensing pharmacy logistics.
Working closely with the Country Manager UK and directly with the Semdor Pharma Group operations team in Germany, you will translate European pharmaceutical operational expertise into a UK-compliant infrastructure capable of supporting 200+ dispensing pharmacies at launch.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the MHRA Import Authorisation (IA) application process for Cannamedical Britannia products
- Build the UK supply chain from European manufacturing sites to UK dispensing pharmacies
- Establish and manage all licensing requirements under the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2001 (Schedule 2)
- Develop and implement SOPs for receipt, storage, and distribution of Schedule 2 controlled medicines
- Manage relationships with cold-chain logistics partners and UK import agents
- Coordinate with pharmacy partners on ordering, dispensing documentation, and compliance requirements
- Ensure ongoing MHRA and Home Office compliance across all operations
- Build and maintain the UK regulatory intelligence function — tracking policy changes affecting medical cannabis
- Prepare operational infrastructure for Q1 2027 commercial launch milestone
What You Bring
Must-Have
- 5+ years of pharmaceutical operations experience in the UK, with direct exposure to MHRA regulatory processes
- Direct experience with controlled substances (Schedule 2 or equivalent) — import, distribution, or dispensing
- Strong working knowledge of UK Misuse of Drugs Regulations and MHRA licensing frameworks
- Experience building or managing pharmaceutical supply chains
- Meticulous documentation standards — COA management, audit trails, SOP development
- Ability to work autonomously in a startup environment with minimal established infrastructure
Nice to Have
- Direct medical cannabis operations experience (UK or European market)
- Existing MHRA or Home Office relationships
- Experience with EU-GMP certified supply chains
- Qualified Person (QP) status or working towards it
