• Insufficient duration — some conditions respond only after 4-8 weeks of consistent use

If medical cannabis is not working as expected, there are almost always steps to take before concluding that it is ineffective.

Next Steps

• Discuss openly with your clinician: is the dose appropriate? Should we try a different ratio or formulation?
• Switching products: moving from high-CBD to balanced THC:CBD may help some conditions
• If two or three well-trialled products at adequate doses provide no benefit, reassessment is appropriate
• Some patients benefit from returning to cannabis after a break and reconsidering the approach

Finding the perfect product and dose at the first attempt is not expected. The systematic trial of different approaches is standard practice in cannabis prescribing.
